Avid readers, regardless of their genre preferences, crave books that compel them forward, keep them turning pages, force them to ask and then what happened? while reading to find out the answers. Although the previous claim is common knowledge, what isn’t as common is that readers actually find such books, books that also resonant with them long after they’ve finished. Addie Zierman’s When We Were on Fire, however, is one such book.
